Park Hill doesn’t have to work hard to feel like a neighborhood. It’s one of Denver’s oldest, with tree-lined streets and residents who’ve stuck around long enough to actually know each other. People here still leave their porch lights on for each other, know which house hands out the good candy on Halloween, and stop mid-walk to catch up with someone they haven’t seen in a week.

In 1887, Park Hill got its name when a Denver developer laid out the neighborhood on a hill overlooking City Park. Immigrant families from across Europe settled into the community in the decades that followed, and by the 1960s, the neighborhood faced a defining test: open the neighborhood wider, or close ranks. They chose to open it and that choice sparked the welcoming nature that defines the Greater Park Hill Community, and what keeps residents in lock step with their neighbors.
